An Introduction To Printing 3 day workshop
Who is this weekend workshop for?
This introductory course is for anyone who wants to learn some of the basic techniques of printing by getting stuck in and having a go. Experience is not necessary, but it is good to come with some ideas and thoughts on a subject matter that excites you. This will point you in a fun direction for us to play and explore your creativity.

To manage your expectations when learning to print there is a lot to take in before we get stuck in and how quickly you work depends on how much work you make. In my experience of delivering this work, almost everyone goes home each day with at least three prints.
The Course Content
This is an introduction to printing which teaches how to work in a print working studio. The first three techniques you will learn are lino, drypoint, and mono printing.
Each day will start with a presentation of how artists have used the techniques in their artwork throughout history along with a demonstration from Alex. She will then take you through the practical experience step by step on how to create a print using the print style of the day.
Lino printing - You are taught how to design, cut and print from a block.
Drypoint printing - An intaglio technique you will learn how to work on a drypoint sheet, how to prepare your paper, how to ink up and wipe off and use the press, and finally how to make a repeated print.
Mono printing - A unique print technique, you will learn how to design and create both the positive and negative method and how to ink the plate and take a print.
Lunch & all materials and tools are provided.
