I am honoured to announce that I will be showing a large recreation of my interactive artwork ‘In Paridisum’ on the Bees for Development stand in the Discovery space, at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 May 21st - 25th.

As an ambassador for Bees for Development, it is wonderful to be able to support them through my augmented reality artwork depicting the role of bees and other insects.

Bees for Development are a 30-year-old-charity set up by Dr Nicola Bradbear to provide resources for beekeepers in the UK and to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people in sub Saharan Africa to become self-sufficient through learning the craft of sustainable beekeeping.

‘In Paradisum’ shows bees and other insects, in their natural UK habitat, with birds, buzzing around a perfect, wild, summer meadow in all its glory and will be recreated in a 2.5m x 3m piece, based on my original 80 x 120cm painting.

A vibrant artwork, using strong colours to show how bees see flowers, this interactive piece is informed by scientific research* into how foraging pollinators respond to floral displays and their sensory components.

It will truly come alive, viewed through a QR code on a phone; the augmented reality aspect placing the viewers amongst the wildlife, giving each one a different ‘bees eye view’ of this buzzy microcosm and changing with every movement around the scene with a separate QR code giving scientific information about the flora and fauna within.

The name ‘In Paridisum’ comes from Fauré Requiem, hinting at both the past and future.

I will be sharing more about this piece and the background behind it in the run up to RHS Chelsea on here and on Instagram.

Do come and experience it in person at:
